Polyether ester polyol giving low shrinkage and high rigidity is prepared by reacting a cyclic ether(s) with at least two ester groups and an alcohol(s) with at least two hydroxyl groups with a dicarboxylic acid component comprising a dicarboxylic acid(s) and then further reacting with a 2-10C alkylene oxide(s). Preparation of a polyether ester polyol comprises reacting a mixture (I) comprising a cyclic ether(s) (CE) with at least two ester groups and an alcohol(s) (AL) with at least two hydroxyl groups with a dicarboxylic acid component comprising a dicarboxylic acid(s) (DAI) and then further reacting with a 2-10C alkylene oxide(s) (AO). Independent claims are included for the above polyether ester polyols, polyurethane prepolymers including them as the polyol components, their preparation by mixing the components and compositions for the preparation of mounting foams comprising the prepolymer and a propellant(s).
