Process for treating an imaging medium comprises: (i) removing the printed material from the medium; and (ii) adding a surfactant or fine particles to the medium. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a process for treating an imaging medium with a coating swelling in water by this method; and (b) an agent for treating an imaging medium after print materials have been removed, which contains a surfactant dissolved in a solvent or fine particles dispersed in a solvent.
