The machine has one or in some cases several lifting rod systems which are moved down with minimum force to a safety distance of about 2 - 5mm and are then locked with force-locking engagement before the pressing force is applied. A lower guide part (15) has a centring attachment (22). The lifting rod system (1) has an internal thread (26) for the piston rod of a for example pneumatically operated cylinder (7).
