The handlebars have grips connected to a fork bridge at variable spacing. Each grip (22) is pivoted to the outer end of a baseplate (18). The baseplate is itself pivoted at the inner end to another component (16) which is connected to the fork bridge (10) so that the spacing can be altered. A lever (20) is pivoted at the inner end to the fork bridge and at the outer end to the baseplate.
