An optical device (1000) comprising: a) a first input (210) for an input optical signal (100) having a random state of polarization; b) a first polarization beam splitter for dividing, in space, said input optical signal (100) into a pair of optical signals which are parallel and have a predetermined state of polarization perpendicular to one another; c) an electrooptical crystal element (200) for propagation, in free space, of at least said pair of optical signals coming from said first polarization beam splitter (2001), said crystal element (200) without internal separation planes, being associated with electrodes so as to apply a voltage perpendicular to the direction of propagation, along said crystal element (200), of said pair of optical signals; d) an optical control element for supplying an optical control beam (330), to said first crystal element (200), said at least one optical control beam (330) being superimposed on said pair of optical signals and being capable of causing to rotate the state of polarization of said at least one pair of optical signals in said crystal element (200); e) a second polarization beam splitter (2002) for combining said pair of optical signals coming from an output. <IMAGE> |
