To produce a point on a steel anchor bar for rock and tunnel structure, the bar is separated and the point is formed at the dividing point. The bar is heated at a predetermined point of its length and then axial tractive force is applied until breaking occurs. Alternatively, heating and application of tractive force can be simultaneous. Heating can be by means of a flame, induction or ohmic resistance.
