The invention relates to novel bleaching and disinfecting agents containing, with regard to the agents, (a) 1 to 8 wt. % alkali metal hypochlorites, (b) 0.1 to 2 wt. % alkali metal hydroxides (c) 0.1 to 2 wt. % betaines, (d) 0.1 to 1 wt. % hydrotropes and (e) 0.05 to 1 wt. % sequestering agents with the provision that the quantities are supplemented with water and optional additional auxiliary agents and additives up to 100 wt. %. The clear preparations are viscoelastic and exhibit, in addition to an excellent washing and bleaching capacity, a high stability in storage.
