Quartz glass melting burner has a gas contacting front portion (3-8, 10) of electrolytically polished heat resistant special steel. Quartz glass melting burner consists of a chemically nickel plated brass injector which is connected to two chemically nickel plated brass valves having chemically nickel plated brass valve stems and which is connected, by an connector with a special steel pipe section, to a special steel gas distributor, the distributor being connected by special steel gas pipe sections to an oxygen-free copper burner head having nozzle bores and two water cooling pipes with respective connectors. The gas contacting front portion (3-8, 10) of the burner (1) consists of an electrolytically polished heat resistant special steel.
