An automotive disc brake has a brake block (1) held in place by a plate (2) mounted spring (4) which has a central fixing zone (5) with two adjacent co-linear spring tongues (6). The tongues (6a, 6b) fit into and grip a hollow brake piston (7). When not under tension, the two tongues (6a, 6b) are asymmetric in comparison with the brake piston (7) axial plane (AE) which is at right angles to their elongation (L). When assembled, this arrangement transmits the different clamping forces (F1, F2) to the piston (7). This produces a radial force component ((F(R) holding down the brake block (1).
