Filling level sensor for motor vehicle employs resistance sensor with horizontal and vertical wire sections

The sensor is a resistance sensor made up of a resistance wire (1) wound with vertical sections (2) and horizontal sections (3). As the liquid rises or falls its cooling effect causes a change in the resistance value. If the level moves into a horizontal section because a longer length of wire is wetted abruptly a greater change in resistance occurs which enables this level to be detected with greater accuracy.
