The system has a train bus for communications between vehicles of the train and internal vehicle bus systems associated with each vehicle coupled to the train bus via gateways. At least one vehicle (12) undertakes a master function for control within the train. At least one master vehicle bus (26) is provided in the one or more vehicles capable of the master function for exclusively coupling primary control value generating system components (30,32) to the train bus (16).
