Arrangement for processing data stored on card

The arrangement has a read/write unit (5) for reading data from the card (6) and a processing unit (2) for processing the data. The read/write unit has a device for generating a dead time which is reset by a control signal from the processing unit when the card is in the normal read/write position. Another device moves the card from the read/write position into a defined position if the dead time expires.
