PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the misalignment of the center of a stock to be machined during the process by providing a split die since the die to insert and hold the stock can be broken by the stock pressed in the upsetting direction when a rotary desk (a table) is rotated to achieve the continuous upsetting. SOLUTION: A split die 21 is guided by an upper guide 22 and a lower guide 23 which are truncated conical and molar in shape, a pressing piece M1 is pressed to be engaged with the split die 21 at the position where the split die 21 is pressed down. In the upsetting process, a roller M6 provided on a rear end of a pressing piece M is engaged with a block in each upsetting stage so as to keep the engagement, the split die 21 is maintained in a fixed manner, and when the upsetting process is completed, a rail 46 guides the roller M6 in the rail to disengage the split die 21 from the pressing piece M1 when the desk is moved by one pitch.
