PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability, reduce power consumption and save space. SOLUTION: An imaging section that images a subject is housed in a rod-like gripping section 14, a body section 25 that outputs a stationary image and an animation and the gripping section 14 are connected by a cable, an optical path 18 provided side-by-side in the imaging section, the first and second light sources 19 and 20 having different brightness and power consumption that irradiate the subject through the optical path 18 during imaging with the imaging section, an image circuit section 26 that generates an animation or a stationary image by controlling the imaging section, a control section 28 for switching between an animation and a stationary image, and a light source control section 21 that controls the light sources 19 and 20 to turn on synchronously with the switching of the control section 28, and at least the optical path 18, the first and second light sources 19 and 20 are housed in the gripping section 14, thereby eliminating the need for a protective tube for protecting the light transmission path because there is only an electrical wire in the cable, making the imager lightweight and slender, and drastically improving the operability.
