PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic composite material with high bending strength, excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance, high strength, high toughness, a wide range of dielectric characteristics and moisture resistance by adding a ceramic fiber coated by a binary coating containing boron nitride and silicon nitride into a matrix. SOLUTION: A ceramic fiber coated with a binary coating of at least one layer containing boron nitride and silicon nitride in a state of silicon nitride applied to boron nitride is impregnated with a composition containing a hardenable preceramic polymer. The impregnated ceramic fiber is molded into a fixed shape and then hardened. Then the molding product is heated in an inert atmosphere at least at 1,000 deg.C and the preceramic polymer is converted into a ceramic to give a fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composite material. A polysiloxane, a polysilazane, a polysilane, etc., may be cited as the hardenable preceramic polymer. |
