PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclone type air cleaner capable of sufficiently securing a space, where dust is deposited, inside of a casing with securing the filtration area of an element and increasing the cyclone efficiency. SOLUTION: The cylindrical element 21 is horizontally housed inside of the casing 20. A cylindrical guide ring 25 communicated with a gas flow-in port 24 is provided around the element 20 to extend from the base end wall surface 20a of the casing 20. Air is rotated inside of the guide ring 25 to deposit the centrifugally separated dust between the outside of the guide ring 25 and the bottom of the casing 20. The filtration surface area of the element 20 is secured and simultaneously the space, where the dust is deposited, is sufficiently secured by providing the depositing space between the outside of the guide ring 25 and the inside of the casing 20, where a relatively wide space is opened.
