PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core material for synthetic Tatami mat, a base for synthetic Tatami mat and a synthetic Tatami mat which are excellent in strength, flexibility and moisture resistance and convenient for carrying because of lightness in weight while being resistive against partial indentations when a concentrated load is applied and advantageous cost-wise and furthermore being desirable to be satisfactorily adaptive when tucking is made for a Tatami mat covering. SOLUTION: For a core material for synthetic Tatami mat mainly comprising of a synthetic resin foam layer, the foam layer is composed of a foam layer 3 (layer A) comprising a synthetic resin foam in an expansion ratio of more than 10 times and less than 100 times and a foam layer 2 (layer B) arranged over the layer A 3 at the Tatami mat surface side and comprising a polypropylene resin foam in the expansion ratio of more than 1.2 times and less than 10 times, and further the foam layer is desirable to be equipped with a foam layer 4 (layer C) arranged over the layer A 3 at the Tatami mat reverse side and comprising a polypropylene resin foam in an expansion ratio of less than 5 times.
