PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply sufficient fuel even by a small-capacity pump. SOLUTION: Pulsed drive voltage is intermittently supplied to a fuel pump one by one each time a thyristor is opened and closed in response to an ignition pulse of an engine, while a vehicle travels at a low speed (for instance, at a speed of less than 20 km/h). The fuel pump repeats the discharging operation at a relative long cycle synchronized with the pulsed drive voltage. When the vehicle travels at a high speed, drive voltage is continuously (namely, direct current) supplied from a power supply line to the fuel pump without the thyristor, and the fuel pump repeats the discharging operation at a relative short cycle in the self-exciting state.
