PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean a surface by eliminating the pinholes, clearances, etc., of a product and further reducing the product surface. SOLUTION: A powder is electrostatically deposited on a manifold 2 by this powder depositing device 1, the degree of vacuum in the device 1 is set in accordance with the temp., humidity, etc., of the outside air, air contg. the powder is introduced from the joint of the manifold 2, the powder is deposited on the joint, and the pinholes of the manifold 2 are shielded. The device 1 consists of a cylindrical vessel 3 with the upper part opened and the lower part closed and a lid 5 made freely detachable from the upper part of the vessel 3 by interposing a double annular 0 ring 4. An air inlet hole 6 is formed in the lid 5 to introduce the powder-contg. air from the upper part, a hole 7 is formed at the lower part of the vessel 3, a filter 9 and a vacuum pump 10 are connected with a connecting pipe inbetween, The vessel is evacuated by the vacuum pump 10, and hence the pinholes of the manifold 2 are plugged by the powder and shielded.
