EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION CATALYST AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To purify exhaust gas containing excess oxygen and to ensure superior durability in a steam-containing atmosphere at a high temperature by incorporating copper and titanium into a zeolite. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purification catalyst contains copper and titanium in a zeolite. The kind of the zeolite used is not particularly limited but ZSM-5 is suitable for use as the zeolite and the zeolite preferably has an SiO2 to Al2O3 molar ratio of >=10. A copper compound used at the time of incorporating copper is not particularly limited if it is soluble in a solvent and chloride, acetate, nitrate or other complex salt such as ammine complex salt is used. Titanium is incorporated by using a titanium alkoxide such as titanium tetraisopropoxide or titanium tetrabutoxide. The titanium content of the catalyst is preferably 1-15 wt.%.
