PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cleaning agent for oral cavities, noticing a fact that mucin can enclose excessive calcium due to its 'protective colloidal action' to prevent the formation and deposition of tartar, and maintaining the good oral hygiene not by a conventional means that the tartar on the surfaces of teeth is mechanically, artificially, perfectly removed, but by the safest physiological function means not deteriorating the natural healing power and the homeostasis. SOLUTION: This cleaning agent contains mucin which is the complex of acidic mucopolysaccharides with proteins. The cleaning agent includes mucin- containing tooth pastes, gargles, confections, and mucin-containing cleaners for oral attachments such as artificial teeth.
