PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purification device, small, easy to manufacture and suitable for removing particularly a vegetable oil or an animal oil mixed in a raw water in restaurants and domestic effluents. SOLUTION: A device is provided with a cylindrical case 1 with a water injection hole 11 and a water drainage outlet 3, two holding units 4 disposed at a desired interval in the cylindrical case 1 and a filter medium 8 filled in a space formed between the holding units 4 and composed of a carbide containing a substantial amount of carbide of 2 mm or smaller grain diameter, and when a raw water containing an oil content is injected from one side of the case 1, the oil content is caught by a filter medium 8, and the outflow of the filter medium 8 is prevented by the holding units 4 and treated water is drained from the drain outlet 3.
