PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the entrance of cut waste and fabric pieces to the inside of a sewing machine from the clearance of the opening part of a fabric feed surface where a moving knife passes through and the moving knife in the sewing machine with the knife for cutting an object to be sewn by the moving knife extended from the lower part of the fabric feed surface to the upper part of the surface. SOLUTION: In this sewing machine with the knife provided with a fixed knife disposed near the fabric feed surface and the moving knife 22 extending from the lower part of the surface to the upper surface of the surface through the opening part disposed on the fabric feed surface and swung and crossed with the fixed knife, a cover member 24 formed separately from the moving knife 22 and attached to the moving knife 22 for covering the opening part is disposed. Further, the cover member covers a first range extending at least to the position of the tip of a blade part 22A in the longitudinal direction of the blade part 22A in front of the base part 22B of the moving knife 22 in a plan view and a third range extending to the rear of the base part 22B in the plan view.
