PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a middle layer for a laminated glass which does not cause whitening and peeling from the glass edge due to moisture absorption over a long period of time and has good suitability to trimming after autoclaving without deteriorating basic characteristics such as transparency, weather resistance, piercing resistance and adhesiveness necessary for the laminated glass. SOLUTION: The middle layer consists of 100 pts.wt. polyvinyl butyral resin having 65-72 mol% degree of butyral formation, 30-50 pts.wt. trieth lene glycol di-2-ethylhexanoate and 0.01-0.5 pts.wt. magnesium salt of a 2-10C carboxylic acid. When the middle layer is torn after it is allowed to stand in an autoclave at 100-150 deg.C and 10-15 kgf/cm2 pressure for 10-40 min, tear breaking energy per unit cross-sectional area measured at 23 deg.C and 500 mm/min tear rate is 50-100 kgf/cm.
