PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a clear image even when printing is made with pigment ink and, moreover, to attain excellent water resistance and weather resistance by a method wherein a coating solution containing an inorganic pigment, non- water-soluble resin and a high-boiling organic solvent being a good solvent of the non-water-soluble resin and having a specific boiling point is applied on a hydrophobic substrate and dried. SOLUTION: Synthetic amorphous silica (15 g) is added to methanol (62 g) and mixed and dispersed by a homomixer. Next, a solution (solid content 30%) prepared by dissolving polyvinyl acetate resin (10 g) in γ-butyrolactone (boiling point 204 deg.C) 23 g, a high-boiling solvent being a good solvent and having a boiling point of 175 deg.C or above, is added by 33 g to the dispersion and dispersed further by using the homomixer, so as to prepare a coating solution. This coating solution is applied on a pure-white polyester film 100 μm thick and hot air of 110 deg.C is blown against it for drying. An ink receiving layer 40 μm thick is thereby formed and an ink jet recording material is prepared. |
