<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the retreating amount of a steering column when a high load specified is applied to a car body front part by introducing a column assist system. SOLUTION: A motor 28 installed at the front extremity of a steering column 16 is installed in front of an in-panel reinforcement 18 in the vertical condition. If the steering column 16 makes displacement backward of the vehicle approximately when a high load specified is applied to the car body front part, the motor 28 interferes with the in-panel reinforcement 18. This restricts backward displacement of the steering column 16, and its retreating amount is reduced.</p> |
