PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause no dirty in a document reading part, to reduce a feeding process time of a double-sided document, and to facilitate viewing and taking-out of a document stored in a paper discharge tray to improve operability. SOLUTION: This document carrying device 2 has a paper feed tray 3 on which a document is placed; a feeding means for feeding the document on the paper feed tray 3 onto a platen glass 1a; a paper discharge tray 6 for storing the fed document onto the platen glass 1a; and a platen cover 4b covering the platen glass 1a. The document carrying device 2 also has a first paper discharge port 34 through which the document having a length in the document feeding direction less than a prescribed length is discharged to a short-size tray 6b; and a second paper discharge port 12 through which the document having a length in the document feeding direction larger than the prescribed length is discharged to a long-size tray 6a. An image input part N on the platen glass 1a, the second paper discharge port 12 and the first paper discharge port 34 are disposed to the document feeding direction in this order with respective intervals.
