<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power steering device including a motor for assisting the steering operation and a ball-and-screw mechanism for converting the rotation of the motor into the axially directed motion of a rack shaft, wherein their load capacities are lessened and constructions made small. SOLUTION: The pressure angle of rack tooth 4 formed on a rack shaft 2 to mesh with a pinion 3 is set decremental toward the two ends of the range where the teeth are formed, i.e., the two ends of the motion stroke of the rack shaft 2, and the moving force applied to the rack shaft 2 with rotation of the pinion 3 is made incremental toward the large steering region requiring a large steering force, and the configuration further includes a motor 5 to apply an assisting force for steering to the other part of the rack shaft 2 and a motion converting mechanism 1 to convert the rotation of the motor 5 into the axially directed motion of the rack shaft 2, and the load capacities of them 5 and 1 are lessened and their constructions are made small.</p> |
