PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fluid for traction drive, in which a high traction coefficient and a low-temperature fluidity are compatible with each other, and which is suitable for an automobile. SOLUTION: This fluid for traction drive contains a base oil consisting of (1) the following (A) and (C), (2) the following (A), (B) and (C), or (3) the following (A), (B), (C) and (D), and having the total content of the components (A) and (B) of 1-30 mass%. (A) A phenyl group-containing polyorganosiloxane having a kinetic viscosity at 25 deg.C of 20-500 mm2/s. (B) A polydimethylcyclohexane having a kinetic viscosity at 25 deg.C of 5-50 mm2/s. (C) A hydrogenated product of anα-alkylstyrene dimer. (D) One to seven wt.% of one or more kinds selected from alkylbenzenes whose alkyl groups have a carbon number of 5-20 and isoparaffin-based hydrocarbon oils having a number average molecular weight of 100-1000. |
