PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth pit suitable for planting in a retaining wall surface formed along a prescribed slope gradient and thereby to improve environmental protection and a view. SOLUTION: This concrete block has a front plate part 12 forming the front of a retaining wall, a back plate part 14 provided at a prescribed space from the front plate part 12 and connecting plate parts 16 so provided as to connect the front plate part 12 and the back plate part 14 integrally in a state of the respective right and left end portions of these parts being projected. A front part 22 being the surface-side portion of the front plate part 12, at least, is formed to be shorter than the widths in the height direction of the back plate part 14 and the connecting plate parts 16 so as to form a groove part 30 enabling accumulation of earth in a stacking portion of the upper and lower plate parts. Thereby a front stepped part 20 formed in a stepped shape is provided in the lower end portion 22a and/or the upper end portion 22b of the front part 12.
