PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition which does not cause environmental pollution and which has good dispersibility and excellent productivity and which little decreases in mechanical properties and the like and which does not generate scatterings like expanded graphite when burning and which has a stable tone, heat resistance and high degree of fire retardance and light resistance and which is highly flowable and suitable for injection molding. SOLUTION: A highly homogeneous fire retardant resin composition comprises (A) 50-90 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin and (B) 10-50 pts.wt. of the sulfate of an aminotriazine compound and the composition has 5 or less white agglomerates having a maximum cross-sectional area of 0.05 mm2 or more when formed into a sheet of 0.5 mm by 10 cm by 10 cm. The composition is prepared by using an aminotriazine compound having a water content of 0.5 wt.% or less.
