PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a high hit ratio even when a character code system is replaced during printing without requiring a large capacity cache memory. SOLUTION: A character code system discriminating part 13 extracts and discriminates the character code system of printing data from the printing attribute data sent out of a host device along with printing data to output the same to a cache selection part 14. The cache selection part 14 selects the cache candidate region corresponding to the outputted character code system from a plurality of the cache candidate regions 12a-12n ensured on an HDD 12 and selectively transmits the data thereof to an RAM cache 15. An imaging processing part 17 reads intermediate data from the HDD 12 to reads the cache data corresponding to the character code thereof from the RAM cache 15 to develop the same on the predetermined region on a page memory 56.
