PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory silicone rubber composition which gives a cured product, which is high in weather resistance and creep resistance, has an excellent resistance to fire and allows no deformation nor embrittlement, even when subjected to fire for a long time, and therefore is useful as refractory joints, gaskets, etc., for building construction which prevents transfer of smoke, flame or heat. SOLUTION: The composition is prepared by mixing (A) 100 pts.wt. organopolysiloxane of the formula (wherein R is a substituted or non-substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group, hydroxyl group or alkoxy group; and m is a positive number of from 1.98 to 2.02), (B) from 5 to 70 pts.wt. fine powdery silica, (C) from 10 to 150 pts.wt. magnesium hydroxide having an average particle size of 1.0μm or smaller, (D) platinum or a platinum compound at an amount of from 1 to 1,000 ppm, calculated as platinum, against component (A) and (E) a catalytic amount of a catalyst for curing.
