PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which improves the water-repellncy and oil-repellency of clothing, etc., to washing and friction, etc., by using an aqueous medium a polymer containing monomers having a polyfluoroalkyl group and a polymerizable unsaturated group, and an alkylene oxide adduct of a monool (or polyol) having a triple bond, as the essential ingredients. SOLUTION: This composition contains an aqueous medium, a polymer preferably having an average particle size of 10-200 nm and containing monomers (e.g. a perfluoroalkylethyl acrylate) having a polyfluoroalkyl group of the formula: CmF2m+1- (wherein m is 4-20) and a polymerizable unsaturated group, and an alkylene oxide adduct of a monool (or a polyol) having a triple bond, as the essential ingredients. Preferably, the composition is prepared by subjecting a monomer having a polyfluoroalkyl group and a polymerizable unsaturated group to emulsion polymerization in an aqueous medium in the presence of the alkylene oxide adduct.
