PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of noise at the time of a high-speed operation by eliminating the need of a needlebar jump mechanism required in a conventional multi-needle type sewing machine. SOLUTION: During standby (figure (a)), the arm part 41a of a plate cam follower 41 pushes up the lower surface of a needle thread take-up 5 and holds the needle thread take-up 5 in the posture of the top dead center. In the state of switching the needle thread take-up 5 (figure (b)), the needle thread take-up 5 is swung by a shaft 43 and turned to the posture corresponding to the time when a needlebar 3 is positioned at the top dead center during sewing. In such a manner, by the shaft 43, the plate cam follower 41 and a plate cam 51, since the needle thread take-up 5 is turned to the top dead center during standby and to the posture corresponding to the top dead center of the needle bar 3 at the time of switching it, changeover at the top dead center of the needlebar is made possible. As a result, the need of the needlebar jump mechanism is eliminated and the generation of the noise is suppressed even when the needlebar 3 and the needle thread take-up 5 are operated at high speed.
