PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator installation method capable of easily installing hoisting equipment in the neighbourhood of an upper end in an elevator shaft and restraining height of a building in which the hoisting equipment is set. SOLUTION: Hoisting equipment 8 is lifted at a specified rising position of an elevator shaft 1 by a lifter 5 through a top part of the elevator shaft 1 of an elevator by a first process. Thereafter, the hoisting equipment 8 at the specified rising position is pushed up at an installing position above the specified rising position by a push-up device 15 through a fixed part 6 of the elevator shaft 1 below the hoisting equipment 8 at the specified rising position by a second process. Consequently, the maximum rising position of the hoisting equipment 8 to be installed is not restricted by a total value of dimensions in the vertical direction of a hoisting accessory 4, the lifter 5, a slinging work wire 11, etc., and it is possible to easily raise the hoisting equipment 8 up to a required installing position to a top part of the elevator shaft 1.
