PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having a floral fragrance of volume feeling, useful for providing wide toiletry products with fragrance. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (R1 to R4 are each H, methyl or ethyl; three parts of parallel two lines of dotted line and straight line are each a single bond or a double bond) such as a compound of formula II, etc. The compound is obtained by reacting p- hydroxymethylcyclohexanecarboaldehyde with dihydropyran in the presence of an acidic catalyst such as sulfuric acid to give tetrahydropyranyl ether. The obtained ether is reacted with a phosphonium salt in the presence of a base such as sodium hydride to give an olefin compound. A tetrahydropyranyl ether group is removed from the obtained olefin compound in a solvent such as methanol in the presence of an acid catalyst such as sulfuric acid.
