PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand-held drill and/or chisel device provided with a hitting mechanism capable of adapting hitting energy and hitting force to respective required values as required easily. SOLUTION: This hand-held drill and/or chisel device are provided with a hitting mechanism 11 in a housing 2 of the device, and the hitting mechanism generates a shock in the direction of axial line and transmits a shock force to a drill tool or a chisel tool mounted on a tool holder 9 connected with the device housing 2. The hitting mechanism 11 based on polarization reluctance principle is provided with a hitting body 12 capable of displacing in the direction of axial line periodically through a controllable magnetic field. The magnetic field is excited by a coil member 13 and at least one permanent magnet 14 having high magnetic force.
