PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel in which a spool can be attached to or detached from a spool shaft, capable of ensuring the stable anti-slipping operation of the spool from the spool shaft and the stable operation for detaching the spool from the spool shaft over a long period. SOLUTION: A small diameter engaging groove 6 formed at the tip of the spool shaft 5 of the fishing reel is nipped and held with a pair of plate-like holding members 8, 8, whose outer ends are inward energized with spring members 7 disposed thereon, respectively. The tapered portion 9 of a push button 10 disposed in a spool 4 and capable of being freely pushed is engaged with the inner ends of a pair of the plate-like holding members 8, 8. When the push button is pushed, the plate-like holding members 8, 8 are opened and separated from the engaging groove 6 to release the spool 4.
