PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously measure the light quantity at multiple positions in the flow direction and to simply realize the adding or averaging process at each position in the width direction by forming a detecting device for detecting the light quantity at multiple positions in the width direction of illuminated paper with a camera having a lens system expanding the visual field in one direction. SOLUTION: Paper is conveyed from a paper feeder 41 one by one and is inspected by this streak inspecting device. The inspecting device is constituted of a light source 13 illuminating the paper, a detecting device 12 detecting the reflected light quantity from the illuminated paper, and a signal processing device 14 processing the signal of the detecting device 12. Whether the paper is good or bad is judged, and the judged paper is selectively fed to a bad paper receiver 43 or a good paper receiver 44. The detecting device 12 is constituted of a CCD line sensor camera and a lens, for example. The lens is provided with a lens system expanding the visual field in one direction. The same S/N ratio is obtained by the integrating calculation of few number of scans, the signal process quantity is reduced, and a high-speed judgment is made.
