PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vibration generator by which a calling voice and calling vibration in a portable telephone can be selectively generated and the calling vibration can be forcibly generated. SOLUTION: In this vibration generator 1, to a planer piezoelectric vibrator, a vibration transmitting member 6 supporting the piezoelectric vibrator and also constituted so that vibration generated in the piezoelectric vibrator is transmitted to the outside is connected, and in order to amplify vibration in the piezoelectric vibrator in the outer peripheral part of the piezoelectric vibrator, a mass load member 5 is connected. A driving circuit electrically connected to the piezoelectric vibrator and for driving the piezoelectric vibrator is furthermore provided. This driving circuit switches between a first driving electric field in an audible frequency domain and a second driving electric field of the lower frequency domain than the audible frequency domain to apply the electric field to the piezoelectric vibrator.
