ORGANIC HALOGEN COMPOUND REMOVER AND TREATMENT OF WASTE GAS USING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain efficient oxidative decomposition and removal of organic halogen compounds such as dioxins contained in waste gas even in a low temperature range by incorporating Mn-Cu multiple oxide and/or Mn-Fe multiple oxide. SOLUTION: The organic halogen compound remover contains Mn-Cu multiple oxide and/or Mn-Fe multiple oxide. In each of the multiple oxides the bond of both the metals is formed by way of oxygen atoms. Each of the multiple oxides is obtained, e.g. by adding an alkali to an aqueous solution of salts of both the metals to prepare a slurry containing a precipitate of hydroxides of both the metals mixed on the molecular scale and then adding an oxidizer to the slurry. Since the oxygen atoms in the oxides are liable to move, the ability of the remover as an oxidative decomposition catalyst and adsorbent is persistently enhanced.
