PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil improvement method through which an appropriately improved soil body can be prepared in a simple procedure by using a rod with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This rod member 10 is formed of the tip part 12 cutting a ground, the central part 14 of the rod connected to the tip part and provided with one or more flowing passages and a plurality of injection holes 36 in the inside and a smaller diameter than the tip part, and the upper part 16 of the rod connected to the central part and provided with a flow passage communicating with the aforesaid flow passage in the inside. The rod member is inserted in the ground while rotating it and cutting the ground by the tip. After the rod member has been inserted down to a specified depth, it is gradually pulled back while discharging a hardener from the injection holes 36. In this way, an improved soil including the hardener is reclaimed in the peripheral space formed owing to the difference of the diameters of the tip part 12 and the central part 14 of the rod and further, the peripheral ground.
