PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare an image satisfactory in quality even at a short distance at the time of ultrasonic image pickup through the use of a higher harmonic echo by utilizing a fundamental wave echo concerning the short distance in the wave sending direction of ultrasonic waves at the time of the ultrasonography. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic probe 2 connected to a transmission and reception part 6 sends an echo signal at the time of sending an ultrasonic wave, which is sent from here and reflected on a living body, to a transmission and reception part 6, which sends a received signal of each sound ray to an echo processing part. This part 8 has a basic wave filter and a higher harmonic filter to respectively transmit fundamental wave echo components and higher harmonic echo components included in the echo received signal. Then, an image processing part 10 can generate the image high in quality f by forming the image by utilizing the fundamental wave echo at the short distance in the wave sending direction of the ultrasonic waves, or utilizing the higher harmonic echo at the distance for from the short distance,. |
