摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy joining material excellent in the strength, external appearance, light weight and workability of a joined part by subjecting aluminum alloy plates having different thicknesses to friction agitation joining. SOLUTION: A hard material backing 9, which has a difference in level 9a equal to a difference value of thicknesses of alloy plates 1, 3 as shown in Fig. (A), is prepared, the alloy plates 1, 3 are placed on the backing 9 and butted on the difference in level 9a. Thus, the upper end faces of the alloy plates 1, 3 are aligned, the column 5b of a rotary tool 5 is inserted, while rotating, to the butted part of the alloy plates 1, 3 from the vertical position and traveled along the butted direction as it is, friction agitation joining is done. By this method, As shown in Fig. (B), a joined material 7, in which a thick part and a thin part are joined while be partitioned by a smooth joined part 7a where the aluminum alloy constituting the alloy plates 1, 2 is agitated, is obtained.
