PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of principally preventing a sheet double feed phenomenon by simple constitution so as to remarkably enhance stability of separation and feed for sheets, and to provide an image forming device with the feeder. SOLUTION: A shutter means 24 projected to a sheet conveying passage 25 to abut to a tip of a sheet for applying feed resistance is provided between a nipping part for a feed roller 1 and a retard roller 2 on the conveying passage 25, and paired extraction rolers 3, 4. A controller 23 is further provided to control projecting/retreating for the shutter means 24 based on rotational information of an encoder 21 rotating interlocked to rotation of the retard roller 2.
