PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carotid pulse wave detecting device which can press on a carotid artery with suitable pressing force as well as stably. SOLUTION: Since a circumferential wall 19, surrounding an opening of a housing 16 presses a epidermis 14 on a carotid artery 13, the pressing state of a pressing sensor 20 is stable as compared with the case where only a pressing face 22 presses on the epidermis 14 on the carotid artery 13. Moreover, since the pressing force for pressing the pressing sensor 20 on the epidermis 14 is separated into a pressing force for the housing 16 and the pressing sensor 20 the pressing force of the pressing sensor 20 for pressing the carotid artery 13 is prevented from becoming too strong.
