PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermally developable photosensitive material improved in sensitivity, fog, and storage stability by incorporating a specific photosensitive colorant into the same. SOLUTION: This photosensitive material contains at least one compound selected from the group of compounds represented by the formula (wherein R1 and R2 are each an aliphatic group; L1 to L9 are each a methine group; a, b, c, d, and f are each 0 or 1; X is an ion necessary for neutralizing the electric charge in the molecule; n is a number necessary for neutralizing the electric charge in the molecule; Q1 and Q2 are each a group of nonmetallic atoms necessary for forming a 5- or 6-membered nitrogen-containing heterocycle which may be a condensed ring; -CR3=CR4R5 is a substituent on the nitrogen-containing heterocycle formed by Q1; -CR6=CR7R8 is a substituent on the nitrogen-containing heterocycle formed by Q2; R3 to R8 are each independently H, a halogen, or a monovalent substituent provided each of R3 to R5 does not form an aromatic ring together with atoms forming Q1 and each of R6 to R8 does not form an aromatic ring together with the atoms forming Q2; and n1 and n2 are each 0-4).
