PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid erroneous key operation such as interruption of power supply, upon occurrence of a print process trouble in a printer by arranging a first key used for turn on power and for urging restart of print process upon recovery from print process error, and a second key used for turn off power. SOLUTION: A CPU 7 in the form of a microcomputer is connected with an ROM 4 storing the control program for a print mechanism 6, a program for communicating data with a host, and other fixed data, an RAM 5 for storing data temporarily in control process, the print mechanism 6 being driven with a process instruction, a start key 2 being used upon occurrence of a print process trouble, and end key 3 used for turn off power of a printer, and the like. The CPU 7 controls the print mechanism 6 to execute print operation according to the control program. When the start key 2 or the end key 3 is depressed, corresponding process is executed.
