PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly transmit the operation history of a printer to a host computer even when trouble is generated in the control part of the printer. SOLUTION: In a printer 10, the communication interface 12 with a host computer 30 is formed into a unit so as to be capable of being independently replaced with respect to a printer main body 11 and this unit is loaded with a recording means 21 for recording the operation history of the printer and a control means 18 for the reading and transmission thereof. By this constitution, the operation history can be transmitted to the host computer 30 even when trouble is generated in the control means 14 of the printer main body.
